Safety & Emergency Disclaimer

This page explains exactly what SetBuddies's Emergency feature does and doesn't do. Please read it before you rely on it.

1. What the emergency alert actually does

Tapping the Emergency button opens a confirmation screen. You choose who the emergency is for (yourself or a group member), confirm your current country so the right local emergency number is shown, and type your group's invite code into the on-screen boxes — a deliberate step so a stray tap or pocket-dial can't trigger a real alert by accident.

Once confirmed, SetBuddies immediately sends a push notification and an in-app alert to every other member of your group, and shows you two buttons: one to call your region's emergency number, and one to call the personal emergency contact you've saved in Settings (if you've added one). You tap each button yourself — nothing is dialled automatically.

2. What it does not do

• It does not share your location. SetBuddies does not collect or transmit your device's GPS location at any point in this flow — it only tells your group who triggered the alert and who it's for.
• It does not call anyone automatically. The "call" buttons hand off to your phone's own dialler; you must tap to actually place the call, and confirm it if your phone asks.
• It does not guarantee delivery. Push notifications can be delayed, blocked by your device's settings, or fail to arrive at all. We cannot promise your group will see an alert in time, or at all.
• It is not a monitored, professionally staffed emergency response service. No one at SetBuddies sees or responds to alerts — only the members of your own group do.

3. Your responsibility

In a genuine emergency, call your local emergency number directly and immediately — using your phone's own dialler if that's faster than opening the app. Don't wait on the app or on a group member's response. Keep your home country and emergency contact details up to date in Settings so the right information is ready if you ever need it.

4. Accuracy of information

The emergency number shown is based on the home country you've selected in Settings — it's your responsibility to update it if you're training somewhere else, though you can also switch it for a single use directly in the Emergency screen. Your emergency contact's details are only as accurate and current as what you've entered.

5. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AscendOlive is not liable for any harm resulting from a delayed, failed, or accidental Emergency trigger, or from reliance on this feature instead of contacting emergency services directly. See our Terms of Service for the full liability terms.
